Accessibility
What we have actually tested on this site, and which parts of the building you can get to.

This site
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 AA. Rather than simply claim it, here is what has been measured, and how:
- Contrast: every piece of text on every page was checked against the background actually painted behind it — including text inside the building drawing, text set at partial opacity, and the small numbers drawn by the stylesheet rather than written into the page. All of it clears AA for its size.
- Keyboard: every link, button and field can be reached by keyboard, in a sensible order, and each shows a gold outline when it has focus. Every page opens with a skip link.
- Motion: the site honours your system reduced-motion setting, and the Reduce motion switch in the display panel does the same job if your system setting is off. Both stop the scrolling headline, the pulsing dot and the sliding room strip.
- Photographs of the rooms carry a description. Two kinds are deliberately marked decorative instead, so a screen reader skips them: the backdrop behind the opening headline, which says nothing the headline does not, and the small duplicates inside the menu, which would otherwise read every room out twice.
- Layout: no page scrolls sideways at 320px, the narrowest phone in common use, or at 200% zoom.
That is not the same as saying it is perfect. If something does not work for you, we want to know.
Changing how this page looks
There is a display panel on every page — the round button at the bottom-left of the screen, and the link at the foot of the page. It sets nine things:
- Text size, from 90% to 200% in steps. It moves the headlines, the body copy and the small print together, not just one of them.
- Colour: full, reduced, or greyscale.
- Text spacing, a plainer high-legibility typeface, underlined links, stronger contrast, reduced motion, a larger cursor, and a reading guide that follows your pointer.
It is ours, not a bought-in accessibility widget. Nothing loads from another company, nothing sits between you and your screen reader, and it does not claim to make this site compliant by itself. The work that decides that is in the page, and is listed above with its gaps. The panel is there for the ordinary reasons: a borrowed laptop, a system setting you would rather not change everywhere, or simply wanting bigger text on this site tonight.
Your choices are kept by your browser, on this device only. They are never sent to us and we cannot see them.
The building
This is what the owner has told us about the building, in plain terms.
- There is no step at the front door, and none into Punch's Lane.
- The accessible toilet, the counter and the Cocktail Bar are on the level you come in on.
- The stage area is down a few steps from there.
- The Upstairs Bar and the Function Room are up the stairs.
If anyone in your group cannot manage steps, please ring before you book and we will tell you straight what will work.
